This viewer is meant to show all significant changes made to the Kendall County maps, as well as to direct users to the relevant documents involved in a given change.
By presenting this information in a clear, interactive manner, our hope is to make these changes as accessible and transparent as possible.
Using the Cadastre Page
This page will show historic changes to cadastral features within Kendall County.
What is a “cadastre”?
The word “cadastre” refers to the public register of real property, especially as it relates to boundaries and ownership. Besides parcels, this also concerns such features as:
- Subdivisions
- Condominiums
- Right-of-Ways
The Records Panel
At the left side of the page, you will find a list of document numbers. Clicking any of these items will update the rest of the page to show features and details specific to that record.
Above this list are filters. You can toggle the different townships on and off, and set a range for the recorded date, and the list will update accordingly.
Note: Most changes occur within a single township. There are, however, cases when a change spans more than one. In such cases, the township filter may not return the desired result.
Within the list, you can search for specific document numbers, as well as change the sort order.
The Before and After Maps
To the right of the records list, you will see two maps, labelled “before” and “after”. When a record is selected, these maps will zoom the the relevant area and show any features created or retired by the record.
Record Details
In the upper-right, you can view additional details about the selected record, as well as link to the original document on the County Recorder’s website.
If the selected record has any attachments, they will appear here.
Legend
To the right of the “after” map, you can find a legend which explains the various polygon types displayed in the map.
Using the Taxing Bodies Page
This page will show historic ordinance-based changes to taxing bodies within Kendall County.
What is a “taxing body”?
A taxing body is any entity that levies taxes. When you look at your property taxes, you can see that a certain amount goes to the schools, another amount to the library district, etc. Those entities are the taxing bodies your property falls within.
Navigating
At the left side of the page, you will find a list of document numbers. Clicking any of these items will zoom to the relevant area and filter the maps to show the features involved.

The Map
In the center of the screen is the map. This map shows any features which were annexed or deannexed by the selected document.
PINs List
The list at the right shows the PINs involved in the selected ordinance. Click on a PIN in this list to see it flash on the map.
This list can be collapsed by clicking the arrow tab on the left edge of the list.
Using the Zoning Page
This page will show historic ordinance-based changes to zoning in Kendall County, as well as the establishing and revoking of zoning permits.

The Maps

Using the New Parcels Page
What is the New Parcels page?
I thought parcels were already covered on the “Cadastre” tab?
For some of our users, seeing the changes on a record-by-record basis isn’t necessarily what they want. They would prefer to see the changes parcel by parcel. That is what this page is for.
The Parcel List
Rather than present a list of documents, this page shows, in the lower left, a list of parcel numbers. By default, these will be sorted to show the newest parcels first.
Select a parcel from the list to view its details and show it on the map.
Parcel Filters
Above the parcel list are several filters. Use these to filter the list of PINs as needed. For instance, you may only be interested in unincorporated parcels created in the last two years in Seward Township. Setting the filters allows you to do this.
